A double-shot of Paxton Locke, headed your way

If you take a look to your right, you’ll see that The Dragon and His Wrath is complete! I’m stoked for you to get your hands on the next books in the series. These two really expand Paxton’s world and lay the foundation for everything yet to come.

All things being perfect, I’d kick off the next book in the series right now (and, honestly, that story is banging on the bars of its cage in my head as we speak) but I’ve got a few things on the docket before I head that way.

First, I’ve been asked to contribute a short story to a new shared-universe anthology. This is a cool enough deal to merit its own post, but I’ll hold off on that until the project is officially announced. For now, I’ll just say that the concept rocks and the origin of the offer pretty much made it one I couldn’t refuse.

After that, I have the revised and expanded version of Places Beyond the Wild pretty much ready to go. That will re-release after the Paxton books come out. This is timely because I’m diving headfirst into A Place for Peace, the next in the Z-Day series, after that. The events in Peace are tied directly into the closing story in Places, because we all know that you can’t keep a zombie down – especially one driven by nanomachines.

And, if all that wasn’t enough, at some point I’ll wrap up my contribution to Silver Empire’s Heroes Unleashed universe, Vigilance. I think I can check off all those boxes by the end of the year, but I’m not making any hard date commitments just yet. Last time I did that we ended up with lockdowns and a worldwide pandemic.

In the meantime, if you think I’ve gone radio silent for too long, hit me up on Twitter or my Facebook fan page – links on the right – and make sure I’m not posting cat memes when I should be writing. LibertyCon’s physical event this year has been canceled (after I managed to get tickets, of course. Sigh.) but it looks like they’ll be streaming panels, which is nice for those who might not have been able to attend anyway. Once those are announced and scheduled, I’ll be sure to post it here.

Until next time – here’s hoping we’re in for a great spring and summer!

Thanks so much for this. I’m really looking forward to these. And the comment “…expand Paxton’s world and lay the foundation for everything yet to come..” is very heartening. I hope Paxton’s adventures run at least as long, if not longer, than Harry Dresden’s. I like Harry well enough, but I like Paxton better. If you keep writing them, I’ll keep buying them.
